Product Watch | September 2025

Published September 5th, 2025

Welcome to Product Watch, where we highlight upcoming physical releases for anime, manga, and video games. Let’s hop into it!

Anime Releases

It’s always exciting when we get a new release of one of Leiji Matsumoto’s works, and this month we have just that with Sentai Filmworks’ release of Queen Millenia. Unfortunately (or fortunately for your wallet), aside from a few reprints from Sentai Filmworks, there’s not much else on Blu-ray this month. This is just the calm before the storm as next month we're getting a whole slew of titles.

While not a September release, I also want to highlight Shout Factory’s release of City Hunter: Angel Dust—a must-watch anime film and one of the final pieces needed for a complete Western City Hunter collection. Speaking of City Hunter

Manga Releases

We’re finally getting a new release of the City Hunter manga with a fresh English translation! Many people may not know, but there was an official English release back in 2003 that stopped after just a few volumes. But it’s not just City Hunter—we’re also getting Cat’s Eye on the same day!?!? It’s a super exciting time to be a Western fan of Tsukasa Hojo’s seminal works.

The new English re-release of Infini-T Force has reached its fourth volume and is hopefully selling well enough to warrant adaptations of all ten volumes this time. Also, Square Enix will be releasing Dragon Quest: The Mark of Erdrick on the 23rd. While researching, I realized I had confused this title with Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken – Yuusha Avan to Gokuen no Maou (ドラゴンクエスト ダイの大冒険 勇者アバンと獄炎の魔王), so I’m pretty excited to dive into this one. I REALLY loved The Adventure of Dai… I just hope The Mark of Erdrick doesn’t get its English release prematurely canceled like that one.

Game Releases

Look at all these titles—and this is just the stuff I’m interested in! You’ll notice a few titles here that have already released, but I felt they were worth including. Somehow, I missed that Cotton Reboot! received a new title!

This month starts off strong with the release of Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion and Shuten Kyodan. Many had very mixed feelings on the the title, however I was a huge fan of the original Daemon X Machina—an incredibly cool mecha-action title—so this sequel is a dream come true.

Later in the month, we’ll see the release of Trails in the Sky: First Chapter. This will be my opportunity to finally jump into the amazing Trails series and lose hours of my life to its narrative.

Continuing with remakes, PAC-MAN World 2 was a pivotal game in my childhood, so knowing we’re getting a Re-PAC version is super exciting. To close out the month, we have one more remake to feature: Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles. While I don’t have any personal history with it, recent playthroughs of Unicorn Overlord and Tactics Ogre have made me excited to check it out.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Absolum, a new roguelite by DotEmu, who have been absolutely killing it lately as both a developer and publisher.

That concludes this months Product Watch. Thank you for reading and be on the lookout for next months!
